Book Blitz: Blood Magic by T.G. Ayer & GIVEAWAY

Blood Magic by T.G. Ayer
(SoulTracker #1)
Publication date: April 28th 2014
Genres: New Adult, Urban Fantasy

My name is Mel Morgan and I’m a Tracker. I find people for a living. The people I help have no idea I know exactly how they feel because I’ve lost someone too. If only I could have found the one person I’ve been looking for all these years.

My current case is no ordinary abduction. Before long I’m neck deep in blood magic – the worst kind. I need the help of a necromancer if I’m to free the kid. Doesn’t mean I have to like it.

When sexy djinn Saleem asks for help things get a little hot to handle. But how can I say know? Dodging demons and sorcerers are just part of my day job.

I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practise given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes… I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It’s a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each other's loves – it works wonderfully…

My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands – I shall forever remain cross-eyed.

But things aren't the same as they were when she left. And the one thing that is turning her life upside down the most just happens to be the resident bad boy, Colt Morgan. Her senior year was supposed to fly by so she could pack up and leave again, but what happens when there's suddenly a reason to want to stay?

Hello everyone! Welcome back to this week's SS. I haven't done one in a while. Spring break was so busy for me. I haven't really spend much time inside, I am trying to make to most of the time I have left in my hometown, because once I am back to my Uni city it's going to be all work and no fun. Anyways, I got  a few but still exciting books during my vacation. Here they are.

Free E-Books
Haunting Zoe is the prequel to Losing Logan and it was free, so I thought I should get it so I can read them together. I found Life in the Palace through a Book Blitz, or whatever it was, I can't really remember. The premise seems really intriguing and it was free, so hurray!

I've been meaning to read get the Sentinel ever since it came out. It sounds very interesting. Red Rising is on sale for $1.99 on Amazon, so I couldn't pass it, I am really looking forward to reading it.

Physical Books
Finally I am going to read this. I couldn't find the proper state of mind to get into this but I am ready now!

Between by Karen Y. Bynum:

God, what had Lucy done? She rubbed the butterfly charm at her throat. She should never have ignored Natasha’s calls. If Lucy had just sucked it up and broken up with her, Natasha wouldn’t have shown up at Gaston. And Lucy wouldn’t have belittled her in front of the Royals. Her stomach churned, and she clutched the charm. Natasha’s grandmother had given it to her, and she hadn’t ever taken it off—until the day she gave it to Lucy. She swallowed her own shame and ripped the chain from her neck. She couldn’t look at it anymore. Couldn’t stand to feel its guilt weighing her down.

“I wish I could just forget you!” She threw the necklace into the abyss of the closet. Holding herself, she wept with her head pressed back against the wall. Slow, gasping tears quickly turned into sobs so gut-wrenching they made her teeth hurt.

“You can’t wish to forget.”

She froze mid-sniff. The blood must have drained from her face because her tears scorched as they rolled down her icy cheeks. A shadow moved in her peripheral vision.

Slowly, she lifted her head. Gasping, she pressed her hands to the floor, ready to jump up and haul ass. But in car-wreck fashion, she couldn’t look away. Fire floated in front of her. Her heart pounded painfully against her ribs. Was the house burning down? Surely not. The flames didn’t seem to be spreading. Instead, they drew down, drew together until they had a distinctly human shape. And eyes. Oh, God, the eyes. They glowed a frightening green, dark and bright at the same time.

This was just like every horror movie Lucy had ever seen. Her time had come. Either this thing would drag her to Hell or she’d be acting out The Exorcist any second. She wiped away a streak of tears.

Forcing herself to stand, to acknowledge what she’d done, she said, “This is about Natasha. Isn’t it?”

The figure didn’t move forward. It just lowered its arms, smaller flames sparking away from the movement. Why didn’t the closet catch fire?

“I’m here,” it said, “to grant you three wishes.”

My Review
The Waiting Booth is the first book in the Whispering Woods series. This book follows Mia, a girl whose brother has gone missing and is trying to pick up the pieces ever since, living with her dad in Whispering Woods. One day Mia meets two handsome college guys, Regulus and Arizona, who turn out to be government agents who monitor the traveling through a portal into another dimension. They want to recruit Mia, since just like her brother, she also has the power of synesthesia.

This book was really good. It has a very unique storyline, I don't think I've ever read anything with a story quite like this one. The whole idea seemed brilliant to me and I really enjoyed the execution. The story was really fast paced. It's a small book but still a lot of things happen and none of them are boring. The plot kept on unraveling, getting me more and more hooked by the page.

My favorite thing of this story though, were the characters. I loved them all. Berry has a way with making her characters so interesting and unique. They really stood out and were brought to life throughout the whole book. I loved Mia and her friends, Austin and Em, also loved (way too much) Regulus and Arizona, those guys are simply brilliant.

I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

The Five find their way to Moab, Utah where, before they’re even settled in, evil finds them.

As Paige fights to keep from succumbing to the pull of an Incubus that has her marked as his next conquest, Johnathan seeks to find a way to rid her of a curse she willingly accepted in order to save him.

Cover Reveal: Sweet Contradiction by Peggy Martinez

Genre: New Adult Romantic Suspense
Release Date: August 26, 2014
Content Rating: Mature

When Beth Michaels hightailed it out of the hole-in-the-road town she grew up in, she only had two goals. One—get as far away as quickly as possible, and two—never set foot in her parent’s home again. But when she receives a heart breaking call from her childhood best friend, Jen, she has no choice but to turn her ’56 Ford pickup back in the direction of Salem, Missouri to attend a funeral.

There’s a new local in town when Beth arrives, and suddenly, it ain’t all that easy for her to remember her rules for dating.

#3. Most importantly, never date anyone from small minded, conservative, Bible-thumping towns like Salem.

Matt might be from a small town and have small town values, but that doesn’t mean he fits into a little slot of Beth’s preconceived notions. After all, ever so often good guys are good. Now if he could just convince Beth to let go of her past and give him a chance, he’s pretty sure there’s a whole lotta sweet under that prickly exterior.
